NORA Condemns MoveOn.org's Attack Against General Petraeus
September 20, 2007

Los Angeles - The National Organization of Republican Armenians (NORA) sharplycondemns the shameless smear campaign, launched and financed by MoveOn.org, attacking a well-respected member of the U.S. Army: General David Petraeus.

A full-page ad recently appeared in the New York Times posing the question, "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?" The ad made baseless accusations, like the suggestion that General Petraeus was "cooking the books for the White House." MoveOn.org, a far-left, liberal political group, operates as a self-styled "progressive" public policy organization. Notwithstanding their perpetual exhibition of uncivil and despicable discourse, this band of extremists has raised millions of dollars for Democratic Party candidates, who are more than happy to take the money from like-minded smear merchants.

General Petraeus is the commander of the Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I), the four-star post that oversees all U.S. forces in that country. He was confirmed to that position by the Senate in a vote of 81-0 on January 26, 2007. Currently, General Petraeus is implementing the critically important surge of forces in Iraq and overseeing various strategic programs, all with the intent of bringing lasting peace and stability to Iraq.

MoveOn.org (and its leadership) prove time and time again, through their disgusting political tactics, that they have no respect for our men and women on the front lines in the War on Terror.

MoveOn.org's transparent agenda, which includes tearing apart an honorable man like General Petraeus, clearly indicates the new low to which the organization has fallen.

Unfortunately, in an attempt to advance loony Democratic positions within the halls of Congress, MoveOn.org has resorted to bashing not only members of President Bush's administration, but the highly distinguished leaders of our great armed forces. And, even more troubling, MoveOn.org is welcomed with open arms by Democrat officeholders and the Democratic Leadership in our nation's capital.
